## Before you install

- A Windows 10 or Windows 11 (64-bit) computer with at least 10 GB free on drive C and an Internet connection. See the full [system requirements](https://bosvideo.net/download#system-requirements).
- The file `BOS-Video-AI-Setup-<version>.exe`, downloaded from the [Download page](https://bosvideo.net/download).
- No administrator rights and no other software needed.

The macOS version is coming soon; the steps below are for Windows.

## Install steps

1. Double-click the file you downloaded. Do **not** choose “Run as administrator”: the installer installs for the Windows account you are using; if it runs under another administrator account, the app is installed for that account instead.
2. If Windows shows a blue **“Windows protected your PC”** box: click **“More info”**, then click **“Run anyway”**. The warning appears because the installer is not code-signed yet, not because of a virus.
3. Click **Next** → **Install** → wait one to a few minutes → **Finish**. If BOS Video AI is open (for example when you install a new version), the installer asks you to close it first.
4. Open the app from the **BOS Video AI** icon on the Desktop or in the Start menu.

If the computer is missing the Windows display component (rare on Windows 10, always present on Windows 11), the installer downloads it, so you need a connection at that point.

## Windows 11: Smart App Control

On some freshly installed Windows 11 computers, **Smart App Control** blocks unsigned installers outright (there is no “Run anyway” button). The current BOS Video AI installer is **not code-signed yet**, so it cannot be installed on those computers.

To check: open **Start** → type **“Smart App Control”** → open **App & browser control**.

- **Off** or **Evaluation**: install normally with the steps above.
- **On**: [contact support](mailto:bosvideo@redsun.vn). Turning Smart App Control off changes your computer's security, and on many Windows editions it cannot be turned back on without reinstalling Windows, so only do it if you understand and accept that.

## First launch

1. Sign in with your business's **BOS account**. Tick **Remember username** so next time you only type the password.
2. If your account belongs to 2 or more businesses: choose one and click **Open this business**.
3. The **setup assistant** walks you through 3 steps: connect AI (paste the key, then click **Check key**), review the business details shown in the video footer, and pick a sample idea for your first video, then click **Start**. Click **Later** to skip a step that is not ready.
4. If anything is flagged, open **System check** at the bottom of the sidebar and click **Repair**. This page works even before you sign in.

Every screen is explained in the [user guide](https://bosvideo.net/guide).

## Your data

| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Settings, account | `%APPDATA%\bos-video-ai` |
| Videos you made | `Documents\bos-video-ai\output` |
| Logs (send them when you need support) | `%LOCALAPPDATA%\bos-video-ai\logs` |

Updating or uninstalling the app does **not** delete these folders.

## Updating the app

When a new version is out, the start screen shows **“Version x.y.z available”** with what's new:

- **Update**: the app downloads the new version (with a percentage; click **Cancel** to stop and it resumes next time), closes, installs the new version (with a progress window) and reopens. If a video is being made, the app asks before closing.
- **Later**: opens the app as usual. The app does not ask about this version again for 24 hours; if an even newer version comes out, it asks right away.

To check at any time: **Help & About** in the sidebar → the **About** section at the bottom → **Check for updates**. This section also shows the version you are using and the licenses of its components.

If installing is interrupted (power cut, shutdown), the next time you open the app it offers to **reinstall** the new version from the downloaded file. Your settings, AI keys, history and videos are kept.

## Uninstalling

**Settings** → **Apps** → find **BOS Video AI** → **Uninstall**. Your settings, account and the videos you made are kept.

## If something goes wrong

- The app says the installation is damaged: run the installer again; your data is kept.
- In the app, the **System check** page has a **Repair** button for most common problems.
- Send support ([bosvideo@redsun.vn](mailto:bosvideo@redsun.vn)) a screenshot of the error and the logs folder from the table above.
- See also the [FAQ](https://bosvideo.net/faq#common-errors).
